Kyl: "Hope Springs Eternal" As Super Committee Lunges Toward Failure

Sen. Jon Kyl says that "hope springs eternal," but it appears the Super Committee is lunging toward failure this weekend. Republicans simply cannot get their heads around any kind of tax reform that raises taxes for anyone.

So now: How do they go about defusing the trigger? Ezra Klein looks at why it won't be easy.

This committee was doomed from the time Kyl was named to it. They wasted a lot of time in meetings, pretending something could be done.
