Politics / News Sick of Tea Bagging?

I tried to find a sexual euphemism similar to tea bagging, but for coffee. This was just to be fair, considering the first time the Range poked fun of the local Tea Party folks we found some nice artwork of golden bull balls (you know, a nice alternative to photos of real tea bagging). Coffee filtering? Coffee circle... OK, forget it.
Look, there's a new game in town, actually all over the country slowly percolating through social networking, such as Facebook. Coffee Party USA. It's the kinder, gentler, and OK, it's hopefully more like the sensible, inclusive, saner alternative to the Tea Party movement. I'm thinking it's the kind of gathering you can join with your mainstream Republican relatives you have more in common with than ever before.
The Tea Party folks have been attacking these guys as FCINO's (how do you pronounce this?) - Fiscal Conservatives in Name Only. I'm thinking FCINO's are just politicians who realized it's stupid to sign agreements with ridiculous national anti-tax groups saying they won't raise taxes under any circumstances despite constituent needs. These days, I'm thinking those contracts may come to haunt a few Republicans that usually take the middle road, but decided the far-right appealed to the Tea Party masses.
If you're interested in getting involved locally, there's a Coffee Party Tucson chapter taking root. Their first meeting is tomorrow (Saturday, March 13), noon at Coffee Exchange at Campbell Boulevard and Grant Road. Visit their national Web site here, and get connected to the local chapter on Facebook here. If this doesn't work and bring everyone together, I'm thinking the Hot Chocolate Party, with a Southwest chapter called Abuelita Partido.

I thought the coffee party is a response to the neocon take-over of the tea party by the likes of funder Russo (he bought all the fancy buses). Granted, the tea party folks were a confused bunch to begin and an easy source for laughs.

The first mention of a modern Tea Party that I can recall was from wearechange.org and 9/11 Truth dumping copies of the 9/11 Commission report into the Boston Harbor (San Francisco also participated). Not necessarily neocon or conservative. The concept of a "Tea Party" was then shortly hijacked by confused Beck and Limbaugh fans sending a bunch of teabags to Washington. It is my understanding that this brilliant use of symbolism earned the well deserved labels "teabag movement" or "teabaggers". Ernie Hancock and fans of Ron Paul are promoting the coffee party to step out of the way of the "teabaggers", which could... really use a coffee enema? Sorry, that's the only reference I could come up with.

Actually, this is another hijacked movement. Ernie Hancock coined the term "coffee party" long before this manifestation appeared.
A simple internet search reveals that the Coffee Party was organized by filmmaker Annabel Park. Park campaigned for Obama in 2008 and was one of the organizers and operators of the "United for Obama" video channel at YouTube. She made over twenty promotional videos for the Obama campaign. Park also worked for The New York Times as a Strategy Analyst. The Coffee Party has been heavily promoted by the New York Times and the CIA's favorite propaganda outlet, the Washington Post.
According to Cornell Law Professor William A. Jacobson, Park organized the Coffee Party for the specific purpose of undermining the Tea Party movement. I agree with Professor Jacobson that the Coffee Party is "simply part of the perpetual Obama campaign, a means by which to subvert the real grassroots Tea Party movement by co-opting part of the message, but in a way which supports keeping Obama in power."

So basically, the only true movement from my post would be the Hot Chocolate Movement, and our little chapter here in the M'Oldy Pueblo - Abuelita Partido. After copious cups, I'm not sure were going to be better off. But the idea is there if either of you want to run with it.
I have found our local chapter of the coffee party to be genuine. Real Tucsonans who want to effect change through intelligent discussion. Some people fear an intelligent conversation, knowing that they can't keep up. Although the neo-con Tea Party claims that we are a left wing movement, I have found that we are actually made up of several different sides of the spectrum. From left to libertarian, to progressive, and even including some right wingers. The idea isn't to point fingers but to communicate in a civil manner on how we the people can get our power back with out all the anger and drama. If yoou would actually like to learn more, instead of ass-uming check our our local website.

I really love all the information I have been seeing on the net about the Coffee Party. Especially from those who don't seem to know anything about it. This does however, give us an idea of the finger pointing mentality that we are trying to overcome. It really reminds me of children who always claim "He did it" but never offer a solution. If you want to post about something you really should at least attend a meeting, to give your argument some credibility. If you would like to inform your self so you can at least make an intelligent argument, check out these websites, and it would also help to site your sources like a professional.
