Democrats Surging Back

Posted by Jim Nintzel on Tue, Nov 3, 2009 at 8:57 PM

A set of cheers erupted just now at Hotel Congress as Democrats got a look at the first results from today's poll voting.

Councilwoman Nina Trasoff pulled ahead of Republican Steve Kozachik by more than 1,200 votes or 51.4 percent to his 48.3 percent.

Councilwoman Karin Uhlich widened her lead over Republican Ben Buehler-Garcia by more than 2,300 votes or 49.8 percent to his 44 percent. Green Party candidate Mary DeCamp pulled in roughly 2,500 votes or 6 percent.

Richard Fimbres is keeping his hefty lead of roughly 4,800 votes over Republican Shaun McClusky, capturing 55.9 percent to his 43.9 percent.

"I feel a lot better," said Jeff Rogers, chairman of the Pima County Democratic Party. "But this could be one of those nights."

Our guess: We'll be counting votes into Thursday, at least.
