Isn't Bristol Living Proof?

Telling the truth?

Not telling the truth?

Bristol Palin is hitting the road as part of a campaign that promotes abstinence rather than safe sex in preventing pregnancy. Only four months ago, Bristol told Fox News that abstinence wasn't realistic in preventing pregnancy, and now it's evidently the only way to make sure the kiddies aren't having sex and are instead getting their pens out to sign virginity pledges. Could this be the teen's way to help her mother make way for a political comeback? Well, she isn't alone. Meghan McCain has been on the talk shows and blogs carving out a niche for herself as a New Republican spokesperson and making sure people know daddy and his friends aren't as wacky as we believe.

From a Washington Post story on an abstinence study released late last year:

Teenagers who pledge to remain virgins until marriage are just as likely to have premarital sex as those who do not promise abstinence and are significantly less likely to use condoms and other forms of birth control when they do, according to a study released today.

The apple doesn't seem to fall far from the tree.

Change the message to get the vote.

As long as I live I will never understand how blind adults, parents in particularm can be regarding their teenagers and sex.
