As Jimmy noted in his Editor's Note, this week I reviewed a movie that is not, in fact, opening in Tucson. I also was unable to review a film that is opening, because the studios placed it after the paper had gone to press. However, that film, Little Children, was one of the best films of the year (at least according to the list I made up that was in last week's Weekly). So let me briefly say: Go see Little Children.
It's received three Oscar noms, including Best Actress (Kate Winslet), Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actor (Jackie Earle Hayley). It should also have received a Best Picture nom and one for Best Actor for Patrick Wilson. And it should definitely win Best Screenplay, though it won't.
Anyway, to the 2.6 million people who read this blog, my apologies for not getting a review in for this film, and for reviewing a film that won't be opening.
